Your VA Loan Application Data: Employment/Income

When an eligible VA borrower fills out an application for a VA home loan, employment and income are two important areas they are required to submit information to be verified by the borrower.

The participating VA lender is instructed by the Department of Veterans Affairs to verify both employment status and the nature of the income earned by that employment. According to VA Pamphlet 26-7, Chapter Four:

?Income analysis is not an exact science. It requires the lender to underwrite each loan on a case-by-case basis, using:

? judgment,
? common sense, and
? flexibility, when warranted.?

Where does that flexibility come in? According to Chapter Four, the lender must ?Analyze the probability of continued employment (that is, whether income is stable and reliable) by examining the:

? applicant?s past employment record,
? applicant?s training, education, and qualifications for his/her position,
? type of employment, and
? employer?s confirmation of continued employment, if provided.?

The real flexibility in this process may be required in a variety of areas. ?In the applicant?s current position, 2 years of employment is a positive indicator of continued employment.? That sounds very close to a specific rule about the length of employment, but the next sentence reveals, ?It is not a required minimum and not always sufficient by itself to reach a conclusion on the probability of continued employment.?

Does the VA have any ?set-in-stone? rules about employment and income? ?Generally, employment less than 12 months is not considered stable and reliable.? However, it may be considered stable and reliable if the individual facts warrant such a conclusion.? Carefully consider the employer?s evaluation of the probability of continued employment, if provided.?

While the VA does take a closer look at the employment when it is 12 months or less, this factor is still not an automatic disqualifier if the borrower?s specific case warrants some added flexibility. Ask your loan officer if one of these situations applies to you?you may be surprised at what you may learn about the leeway you could qualify for in the right circumstances.

Dr. Jane Greer: Russell Crowe: Can You Really ... - Huffington Post

Russell Crowe and his wife of nine years, Danielle Spencer, announced their separation recently after nine years of marriage. The two were on opposite sides of the globe when the news broke -- she in Australia shooting "Dancing With The Stars", and he in Los Angeles shooting the film "Noah." Their whereabouts might be an indication of what went wrong in their marriage. Did their careers take priority over their personal lives?

You have to ask yourself the question: which comes first, my home life or my work? Sometimes there's no easy answer. There is a time in many people's lives when they wonder if they've compromised one for the other. Everyone who has a passion for what they do has struggled to balance work and family. For celebrities, the choice can be particularly hard since their projects often take them far away for long periods of time, but you don't have to be a star to grapple with this tug-of-war.

This dilemma can strike at different stages of people's lives: being too busy to find love, being taken away from a boyfriend or new spouse by work demands, or having to choose between your children and your job. At some point, you will most likely be forced to make a decision. So the question becomes: How much is too much? And how much of a toll does work take?

Having a career certainly shouldn't preclude you from having a fulfilling romantic and home life, but sometimes people become so consumed with their work that it depletes the energy that they might otherwise be able to spend on personal commitments. For example, Abigail, one of my patients, completely threw herself into her work. Because she could make time only for the occasional date, it became impossible for her to develop a real relationship. She feels there is no other option for her but to take on more creative responsibility if she wants to build her career and continue to move up the ladder. The risk, however, is that if she doesn't make some room now for her romantic life, she may lose the opportunity to have one.

What if you're the person left at home repeatedly, as my patient Ellen and her baby recently were while her husband worked on a big project? Or what if your boyfriend has to move to another city in order to tackle his new promotion? In fact, when my patient Claire's boyfriend moved, he was working toward financial stability so he could feel secure and ready to propose to her. However, she took it personally and thought he wasn't committed to the relationship because he moved away. It is easy to feel that your partner is choosing the office over you; they, however, typically don't see it as a choice but rather their professional responsibility.

If this is going on with the person you are dating or married to, try to step back and consider what's motivating them to invest so much energy into their work. Also, it might be helpful to have a conversation with them to see if they can put some checks and balances in place at work in order to make some personal time. If you're the one who's been overwhelmed with work and not making it home until after 9:00 p.m. or missing a Friday night with your family, give your loved one fair warning. That way, they can make other plans and not feel ignored or abandoned.

It is important to take the time to figure out your work-life balance. You will want to preserve the emotional intimacy you share with your partner because that can ultimately help sustain you as you make your way in the world -- and up the corporate ladder.

Earnings, Spanish downgrades weaken world shares

LONDON (Reuters) - Lacklustre corporate earnings and a credit rating downgrade of five Spanish regional governments weakened world shares and the euro on Tuesday, while expectations of stimulus in Japan hurt the yen.

The euro was down 0.21 percent at $1.3033 by 0715 GMT. Safe-haven German government bond prices edged higher and nudged up Spanish and Italian 10-year bond yields.

"Moody's cut Catalunya amongst other Spanish regions so there's a bit of bad news out there and we're seeing a bit of a bid for Bunds," one bond trader said.

Spain will sell three and six-month debt later on Tuesday.

Disappointing company results from the United States on Monday, cast a shadow over share markets. Heavy-equipment maker Caterpillar Inc slashed its earnings forecast, adding to the recent warnings of weakness from bellwethers such as General Electric and Microsoft.

European shares, which ended Monday down 0.4 percent, buckled after an early push to stand 0.2 percent lower. Following falls in Asia, the MSCI index of world shares was down 0.18 percent.

London's FTSE 100, Paris's CAC-40 and Frankfurt's DAX were all lower, while U.S. stock futures pointed to a soft Wall Street open.

In the currency market the yen hit a three-month low against the dollar and a five-month trough versus the euro on belief that the Bank of Japan will further loosen policy later this month.

"Generally speaking, expectations for a BOJ easing help push the dollar up against the yen, but the effect on the economy from easing is limited. It's more to do with recent market flows which have been pointing to a weaker yen," said Hiroshi Maeba, head of FX trading Japan for UBS in Tokyo.

Several central banks hold policy meeting this week, including the U.S. Federal Reserve, the Bank of Canada and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. All of them are expected to keep rates on hold but may offer dovish statements, Barclays Capital said in a research note.

Editorial: California State University gets an F on this report card

CALIFORNIA State University has come out with its "Legislative Scorecard" for 2011-12, grading Sacramento lawmakers from A to F. Let's hope Cal State is smarter when it grades students.

The legislative grades are based on how members of the state Senate and Assembly voted on bills pertaining to public universities, including bills that affect university funding.

The intent, according to the CSU report, is "to inform the public on lawmakers' support of the CSU and public higher education."

What leaps off the page is that the graders took points away from lawmakers who voted for bills aimed at limiting the controversial salary raises that the CSU trustees have given to campus presidents - the raises that angered students whose tuition continues to rise.

CSU officials' myopia must keep them from seeing that for many people (perhaps most people), votes against pay hikes for already well-compensated campus bosses are not votes against education but votes for more equitable financial decisions at a time of state education-funding cutbacks.

For what it's worth, the CSU report card lists no A's for California lawmakers. The highest-graded Los Angeles-area representatives, each with a B-plus, were Democratic Assembly members Mike Feuer of West Hollywood, Bonnie Lowenthal of Long Beach, and Sen. Alex Padilla of Van Nuys. The only F among local legislators went to Republican Assemblyman Steve Knight of Palmdale.

Sen. Fran Pavley,

a Santa Monica Democrat, a former schoolteacher who lists education as her top issue, received a D-minus. She voted for a bill that sought to prohibit raises for CSU employees with salaries of more than $200,000.

According to CSU's website (calstate.edu), its grading method paid special attention to legislators who authored bills that "support" or "negatively impact" the university. Thus Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, a Democrat from Pasadena, was taken down from a C-minus to a D because he authored a bill to forbid raises until 2015 for state employees already making six-figure salaries, and Sen. Ted Lieu, a Democrat from Torrance, went from a C-plus to a C because of his bill related to public-employee strikes.

As we've seen from the justified howls of protest from students and their families about presidents' pay raises amid tuition hikes, there often are two sides to issues of which policies "support" higher education in California and which "negatively impact" it.

The CSU administration's legislative ratings are self-serving and, sad to say, should be taken no more seriously than any other interest group's.

INVEST & MANAGE: Where to Grow London?s ?New? Hub Airport?

INVEST & MANAGE: Where to Grow London?s ?New? Hub Airport?

Posted 22/10/2012

It emerged at last week?s ?Invest and Manage Airports? conference at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club, that Stansted Airport is becoming a popular new option to support London?s future air capacity concerns.? In a lively keynote address to a packed room of industry executives, consultants and media, Daniel Moylan, adviser to Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, argued that alongside the construction of a new ?50 billion hub airport to be built in east London in the next 15-20 years, Stansted was a real option to answering London?s air capacity issues. ?In his 30 minute address, Moylan also called for the UK government to bring forward its decision on airport expansion to next year, ahead of the next General Election.

Speaking at the ?Invest and Manage Airports? conference on October 19, 2012, Moylan said the issue of a new hub airport in London was an urgency that had to be dealt with sooner rather than later and lambasted the UK?s failure to develop a proper aviation policy over the last 50 years which has in fact consisted of a series of ?accidental decisions?.

22102012 Daniel Moylan

Moylan said that it was time for the UK to have a ?consistent airport policy? which understood the need for a ?well functioning hub airport?. ?He said that Heathrow in its current state ?does not have all the characteristics of a hub airport and therefore cannot be the country?s hub of the future?.? Instead he said the country should look to its neighbours, such as Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris Charles de Gaulle, and Frankfurt airports for examples of successful hubs.? "Our European rivals have seen the benefits of having a hub airport and the benefits it brings to a city," he said.

The Mayor?s adviser said that to remain a ?world city? London needs to remain well connected through aviation, citing a ?super connected highway of world cities that spans the globe?.? He said: ?London needs to remain part of that highway. Britain needs foreign investment and will lose it if it doesn?t remain part of that highway.?

In the case of Heathrow, London?s current largest international gateway, Moylan said it could never work as the UK?s future hub.? ?The site is far too constrained and only has two runways. ?But, the question is not where we can put the third runway, but more the fourth or the fifth. ?The airport has practically reached the limit of its growth,? he said.

According to Moylan, over the last 50 years the UK government has made ?no decisions at all? but instead ?kept its head in the sand?. ?Now, he said, ?we must look to our Dutch, French and German neighbours and learn lessons from them?.

As for building a brand new hub airport in the Thames Estuary, dubbed by the media as ?Boris Island?, Moylan said first of all the need for a new airport had to be accepted and then discussions on location would be held. ?That said, Moylan claimed east London would be an ?ideal place? to put the new infrastructure.? ?The east of London is known for a degree of deprivation, joblessness, and low life expectancy. ?The economic benefits that a new airport in the area would bring, would be transformative. ?However the key is to get an agreement on a new airport first, and worry about the location later,? he said.

Ruling out Gatwick as a potential hub due to it physically being on the wrong side of London to connect to northern rail links, Stansted was highlighted by Moylan as ?something Boris would consider?.? He said the airport has space to grow and high-speed railway developments could make Stansted a ?more attractive option? for London in the future.? However, he raised concerns over the ability to effectively to Canary Wharf and the Docklands business community.

?Stansted as it is today is not a solution.? Airlines don?t want to use it.? In fact nobody wants to fly there and to get anybody too it has to be cheap, cheap, cheap,? Moylan explained in an exclusive interview with The HUB following his keynote address.? ?But, as a location of a four runway hub, although it may not be quite as attractive as an Estuary airport for its regenerative potential, it does have some logic too it.?

22102012 Thames Airport 1

Moylan stressed the urgency of getting answers from the project and called for the new Aviation Commission to bring forward its recommendations on capacity expansion from 2015 to 2013.? A parliamentary statement is due in the next week or so, which will establish and confirm full details of the Davies Commission and Moylan is pushing for its findings to be reported before the end of next year rather than the envisaged 2015 date set by the Government.?

He said that the lack of urgency on a decision on airport capacity in the UK is "not related to the urgency of case or workload" but due to the fact that the recommendations are conveniently due to happen after the next general election.? However, he said this is ?not a political issue? and nothing to do with ?losing votes or seats ?as this would show ?a level of foresight? from the Government. ??Simply this is down to the Coalition and the fact that at the moment there are two parties who don?t agree on an aviation policy.?

It is essential we move forward as quickly as possible, according to Moylan as the Dutch, French and Germans are ?leeching business away from us? and there is a ?danger London will be at the end of a branch? rather than part of a ?super highway?.? ?They have already done this with our shipping business, and could now do the same with aviation,? he added.

If we build a new Thames Estuary gateway or develop Stansted as London?s ?new? hub airport, what future is there for Heathrow?? Well, according to Moylan, ?Boris doesn't want to see Heathrow Airport close? and there is a case that London could support two hubs, said he was not "overly swayed" on this and that Heathrow could instead remain operational as a single runway facility supporting premium and leisure traffic to the west London, although this wasn?t necessarily a view that was well supported by the audience.?

There was even a knock from Moylan into the plans from Birmingham Airport to become the short-term answer to London?s capacity constraints.? ?I keep hearing Birmingham Airport?s boss Paul Kehoe telling us he has space for ten million additional passengers.? I have no problem with Birmingham Airport?s strategy, but do ten million people actually want to go there,? he said.

Moylan shows a strong passion for the aviation debate, something he says his boss shares.? Formerly, deputy chairman of Transport for London, the statutory corporation established in 2000 that manages London?s Tube, buses and major roads, Moylan first began advising the Mayor on aviation following the last General Election in 2010.? He took on a new role as chairman of the London Legacy Development Corporation ? responsible for the development of the Olympic Park and its facilities after the London 2012 Games ? in June 2012 but last month stepped down from that role to concentrate full time on aviation.

?I have worked with Boris for two years now to bring London?s pressing need for a new hub airport to the top of the political agenda. ?The 2012 Games have shown that Britain can deliver major projects better than anyone if it has the will to do so.? A new hub airport to the east of London would be the greatest legacy we could create for London and the country at large. ?That is why I have accepted the Mayor?s invitation to put the majority of my time into aviation. ?The time for action is now and we need to bring the Government round to that view,? he said.

22102012 Thames Airport 2

Speaking exclusively to The HUB following his ?Invest and Manage Airports? address, Moylan revealed more about how serious his boss, Boris Johnson, is about this matter.? ?Boris is completely passionate and tied-up in all of this,? he said.? ?In his role one hundred and one things pass his desk and 95 per cent of this is routine work, but half a dozen things, education?s one of them and aviation is another, where he is passionately engaged in trying to achieve something.? We talk, text or speak to each other every day, including weekends.?

Moylan is forthright in his views and on behalf of the Mayor of London is really pushing for decisions to be taken in the air capacity debate.? We find ourselves in this position due to the lack of clarity and conviction in the decision making abilities of past Government ministers and he urged the Coalition to stand up and make a decision.? When questioned if we are 20 years too late with this decision making, he replied:? ?We are always too late in this country but it doesn?t mean we can?t catch up.?

As Moylan highlighted in his humorous opening to his ?Invest and Manage Airports? address, the Mayor of London and his constitute Londoners can at least take a little light from the slow decision making process; for as long as the Government debates the subject visitors to the UK capital can continue to enjoy ?long periods flying circles over London? and getting to see ?a wonderful view of the wonders of the city? as they wait for space to land.

Become An Internet Marketing Expert With These Top Tips | Dan ...

Now that the Internet has shown to be a successful venture for many companies, it is very important that businesses understand how to market their products online. So, if you?re planning on starting a web business, you need to know some great Internet marketing techniques if you hope to compete. Use the following tips as part of your online business strategy.

Make a plan for how you will market your webpage and the strategies you will use. Free or inexpensive ways to do so include commenting on blogs, hanging posters in local establishments, and making good use of social networking sites. There is an abundance of methods for attracting visitors to your website. It just requires a little creativity.

An excellent strategy for operating a profitable online business is to look at your competition. Browse the sites of businesses similar to yours, and make note of the things that aren?t as good as they could be. Find out what areas of service your competition doesn?t provide that you do and highlight these differences on your site.

Provide some kind of proof that the claims of the product quality are true. People aren?t going to believe you if you say that French course you?re pitching helped improve your French, but they might believe you if you show them a video of you speaking French using examples from the course. This is why it is so important to sell products that you have used yourself.

You need to provide a portal for your visitors to interact with one another. Your website will feel like more of a social network than a business site. People enjoy being part of groups and clubs so treating them as if they are part of a select group will keep them coming back to your site.

Everyone on your mailing list should receive personal correspondence from you. Your visitors and customers are fed up with bulk emails that are impersonal and fake. Consider this: don?t you dislike getting bulk mail from strangers? For a unique look to your Internet marketing, consider going for personalized e-mails that target your specific audience.

Think about bundling your merchandise with products of the same type and offering the bundle as a bargain sale. Make sure that the terms of what you?re offering are clearly stated and easy to find.

Consider the quality of your service or product. An inferior product can?t be saved by even the best internet marketing campaign. A superior product is easier to sell, and will generate more sales.

Find out what people commonly compain about and you could find your market niche! Why? Through this method, you find problems common to many people. Trying to solve problems is a great way to build your reputation online, and complaints can help you zero in on the best problems to tackle. This technique will lead to your niche, and can help you construct your mission statement.

Internet marketing may seem difficult, but it has many similarities to traditional marketing. A good website and increased visibility will bring more traffic to your site and increase your sales.

He told The Associated Press he was forgoing mainstream medical treatments in favor of traditional American Indian remedies and alternative treatments away from his home on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Means was an early leader of AIM and led its armed occupation of the South Dakota town of Wounded Knee, a 71-day siege that included several gunbattles with federal officers. He often was embroiled in controversy, partly because of AIM's alleged involvement in the 1975 slaying of Annie Mae Aquash. But Means also was known for his role in the movie "The Last of the Mohicans" and had run unsuccessfully for the Libertarian nomination for president in 1988.

AIM was founded in the late 1960s to protest the U.S. government's treatment of Native Americans and demand the government honor its treaties with Indian tribes. Means told the AP in 2011 that before AIM, there had been no advocate on a national or international scale for American Indians, and that Native Americans were ashamed of their heritage.

"No one except Hollywood stars and very rich Texans wore Indian jewelry," Means said. "And there was a plethora of dozens if not hundreds of athletic teams that in essence were insulting us, from grade schools to college. That's all changed."

The movement eventually faded away, the result of Native Americans becoming self-aware and self-determined, Means said.

Paul DeMain, publisher of Indian Country Today, said there were plenty of Indian activists before AIM but that the group became the "radical media gorilla."

"If someone needed help, you called on the American Indian Movement and they showed up and caused all kind of ruckus and looked beautiful on a 20-minute clip on TV that night," DeMain said.

Means said he felt his most important accomplishment was the founding of the Republic of Lakotah and the "re-establishment of our freedom to be responsible" as a sovereign nation inside the borders of the United States. His efforts to have his proposed country recognized by the international community continued at the United Nations, he said, even as it was ignored by tribal governments closer to home, including his own Oglala Sioux Tribe.

But others may remember him for his former organization's connection to Aquash's slaying. Her death remains synonymous with AIM and its often-violent clashes with federal agents in the 1970s.

Authorities believe three AIM members shot and killed Aquash on the Pine Ridge reservation on the orders of someone in AIM's leadership because they suspected she was an FBI informant. Two activists ? Arlo Looking Cloud and John Graham ? both were eventually convicted of murder. The third never has been charged.

Means blamed Vernon Bellecourt, another AIM leader, for ordering Aquash's killing. Bellecourt denied the allegations in a 2004 interview, four years before he died.

DeMain, an Indian journalist who researched the case, said AIM's leaders know who ordered Aquash's killing but have covered up the truth for decades.

Also in 1975, murder charges were filed against Means and Dick Marshall, an AIM member, in the shooting death of Martin Montileaux of Kyle at the Longbranch Saloon in Scenic. Marshall served 24 years in prison. Means was acquitted.

In addition to his presidential bid, Means also briefly served as a vice presidential candidate in 1984, joining the Larry Flynt ticket during the Hustler magazine publisher's unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination.

But Means always considered himself a Libertarian and couldn't believe that anyone would want to call themselves either a Republican or a Democrat.

"It's just unconscionable that America has become so stupid," he said.

His acting career began in 1992 when he portrayed Chingachgook alongside Daniel Day-Lewis' Hawkeye in "The Last of the Mohicans." He also appeared in the 1994 film "Natural Born Killers," voiced Chief Powhatan in the 1995 animated film "Pocahontas" and guest starred in 2004 on the HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

Means recounted his life in the book "Where White Men Fear to Tread." He said he pulled no punches in his autobiography, admitting to his frailties and evils but also acknowledging his successes.

"I tell the truth, and I expose myself as a weak, misguided, misdirected, dysfunctional human being I used to be," he said.

Means death came a day after former U.S. Sen. George McGovern died in Sioux Falls at the age of 90. McGovern had traveled to Wounded Knee with U.S. Sen. James Abourezk during the 71-day takeover to try to negotiate an end.

"I've lost two good friends in a matter of two to three days," Abourezk said Monday morning. "I don't pretend to understand it."

A look at recent tech-industry earnings

Technology companies have begun releasing their earnings reports for the latest quarter. The reports come as consumers shift their spending toward tablets and a weak global economy curbs corporate spending on computers. They also come as Microsoft prepares to release a new version of Windows on Friday. Here is a summary of recent earnings and reports for selected technology companies and what they reveal about the state of spending and the overall economy.

? Oct. 5: Samsung Electronics Co. forecast another record quarterly operating profit, likely driven by strong sales of high-end smartphones that offset weak semiconductor orders. Samsung estimated that its July-September operating income nearly doubled to 8.1 trillion won ($7.3 billion) from 4.25 trillion won a year earlier. The result was better than the market consensus of 7.6 trillion won. Full results are expected Oct. 26.

? Oct. 16: Intel Corp., the world's largest chipmaker, says net income fell 14 percent from last year in the latest quarter, and it's looking at tough conditions in the new quarter. Intel blames a difficult global economy for declining sales, but analysts believe a shift in spending from PCs to tablets and smartphones may be contributing.

IBM Corp. says revenue slipped below Wall Street's expectations in the third quarter as the technology company dealt with jittery customers and a weakening euro that undercut its results. Despite the problems posed by the wobbly economy, IBM's earnings held steady.

? Oct. 17: eBay Inc. says its third-quarter net income grew 22 percent, helped by higher revenue at its PayPal payments service and the marketplaces business that includes eBay.com.

? Oct. 18: Google Inc. reports earnings and revenue that fell well below analyst projections. Most of Google's third-quarter headaches were concentrated in Motorola Mobility, the troubled cellphone maker that the company bought for $12.4 billion in May.

Microsoft Corp. says net income fell 22 percent in the latest quarter as it deferred revenue from the sale of its upcoming Windows 8 operating system to PC makers ? and as PC sales in general took a dive. The economic troubles in Europe also weighed on results, which missed Wall Street expectations.

Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices Inc. says it will cut nearly 1,800 jobs, about 15 percent of its workforce, by the end of the year in order to reduce spending in the face of dwindling sales.

Verizon Communications Inc. reports a blow-out number of new devices on its wireless network, boosted by the revolutionary Share Everything plan, which made it cheaper for households to add wireless service to non-phone devices like tablets and laptops. Verizon Wireless added a net 1.5 million devices to contract-based plans in the third quarter, more than it has in many years.

? Monday: Yahoo Inc. issued a third-quarter earnings report that topped analyst estimates. Yahoo's net revenue barely grew at a time when advertisers are spending more money marketing their products and services online. But the numbers were slightly better than analysts projected. It's the first quarter under new CEO Marissa Mayer.

Coming up:

? Tuesday: Facebook Inc., Netflix Inc.

? Wednesday: Zynga Inc., AT&T Inc.

? Thursday: Apple Inc., Sprint Nextel Corp., Amazon.com Inc.

? Friday: Samsung Electronics Co., Comcast Corp.

? Nov. 1: Sony Corp., LinkedIn Corp.

? Nov. 8: Groupon Inc.

? Nov. 13: Cisco Systems Inc.

? Nov. 20: Hewlett-Packard Co., Dell Inc.

? Dec. 20: Research In Motion Ltd.

Learn Code, Get Hired: Treehouse Offers Free Courses To Another 5,000 College Students

treehouseQuick to grow its user base and revenues, last month Treehouse decided to give back to its community by doling out $3 million-worth of free tech education to 2,500 college students. The scholarship received so much that it had to turn students away. This, combined with the fact the program was for U.S. students only, has led Treehouse to decide to do it all again, but this time go international -- and double the size of the scholarship.

Web Host Advice ? How You May Come Across A Cheap Web Host ...

Condividi questa pagina con i tuoi amici:

All online marketers will at some point deal with one doubt : how will I discover and inexpensive web host service ?

The web hosting business is totally sated with web hosting suppliers competing for your company . You?ll find everything from big business , hosting large numbers of internet sites , to the small reseller operating from Mother ?s house . So how can you make a smart choice with all those choices ?

All web hosting suppliers often tend to have a number of similarities, although their primary sales debates are typically concentrated on 2 important items; price and bandwidth . A lot of the time users opt for a sales pitch like that. Obtaining something that?s affordable is preferable to most individuals , and if it appears to come with some excellent additionals too, then all the far better !

Hence if you are selecting between an internet hosting business that?s supplying a reasonable web hosting plan with 50 Gigabyte data transfer for $ 10 dollars a month , and a different web hosting business that promises you a web hosting plan with five hundred Gigabyte per month for 5 bucks , a lot of individuals will unreasonably choose the 2nd choice . Nonetheless , it is this sort of logic that causes catastrophe for numerous web hosting customers .

Sure , it?s excellent to save a couple of dollars ? although do you think that a web hosting business is planning to give excellent support and reputable service when you pay them basicallyc nothing? The old stating ?You get what you pay for? is really truthful , and the complete truth is you?re far more likely to receive a fantastic service if you keep clear of the economical web hosting plans .

That being said , it is also real that the service quality can easily differ a whole lot between web hosting suppliers in the same cost range. In fact, the 1 way of making sure you keep clear of the bad apples is to do a research just before you select a web hosting service. Look at forums such as ?Web Hosting Talk? or ?Web Hosting Forum? for example, to find out for yourself what real clients feel about the web hosting company they benefit from .

While there isn?t really web hosting business that will certainly be loved by everybody , you will find that some have a whole lot more bad reviews than others. I have actually done a comprehensive research on this and discovered that while some web hosting suppliers might have primarily really good reviews, additional suppliers have primarily unfavorable feedbacks . Conclusion : when seeking an affordable web host service, keep clear of the most cost effective offers and do some research before you join .

Ancient, fossilized, insect-like brain surprisingly complex

The fossilized brain, found in an extinct arthropod from China, looks very similar to the brains of today's modern insects.

By Stephanie Pappas,?LiveScience Senior Writer / October 11, 2012

Fuxianhuia protensa, a 520 million-year-old fossil from China discovered to contain a preserved brain.

The oldest brain ever found in an arthropod ? a group of invertebrates that includes insects and crustaceans ? is surprisingly complex for its 520-million-year age, researchers report today (Oct. 10).

The fossilized brain, found in an?extinct arthropod?from China, looks very similar to the brains of today's modern insects, said study researcher Nicholas Strausfeld, the director of the Center for Insect Science at the University of Arizona.

"The rest of the animal is incredibly simple, so it's a big surprise to see a brain that is so advanced, as it were, in such a simple animal," Strausfeld told LiveScience.

The discovery suggests that brains evolved a complex organization early on in history, he added.

The evolving insect brain

Arthropods include any animal with an exoskeleton, jointed legs and a segmented body, from lobsters to scorpions to beetles to butterflies. There is controversy about how these various creatures evolved, however. One theory holds that insects evolved from ancestors not unlike today's branchiopods, which are extremely simple?crustaceans?such as fairy shrimp and water fleas. Branchiopods have simpler brains than insects and higher crustaceans, Strausfeld said, so this theory of evolution holds that both higher crustaceans and?insects?evolved very similar complex brains after splitting off from this common branchiopod-like ancestor. [Dazzling Photos of Dew-Covered Insects]

Alternatively, all of these groups ? insects, branchiopods and higher crustaceans ? could have evolved from an ancestor with a complex brain, with branchiopods regressing later.

"So the question was, 'What was the early brain, what did it look like? Did it look simple or did it look complex?'" Strausfeld said.

That's not an easy question to answer, given that?brains rarely get fossilized. But Strausfeld's earlier work on arthropod fossils convinced him it could be done. He just had to go to China, home of an amazing collection of stunningly preserved ancient fossils.

Last-minute discovery

In China's Yunnan province, paleontologists have long uncovered fossils from the Cambrian period, which ran from about 542 million to 488 million years ago. These fossils are very well-preserved.

For five days, Strausfeld and his colleagues poured through fossils, searching for dark silhouettes of preserved brains inside ancient arthropod heads. There was one fossil that remained elusive, however: A specimen Strausfeld had read about in a paper by Swedish researchers. They thought they'd seen a fossilized brain.

With only a few hours left in the lab, Strausfeld's colleague, Xiaoya Ma, of the Natural History Museum in London went hunting for the missing specimen. An hour and a half later, she returned with the fossil, an extinct armored creature just a few centimeters long called?Fuxianhuia protensa. [25 Amazing Ancient Beasts]

"I looked at the microscope and I think I said something like, 'Whoopee, I think we've got the crown jewels!'" Strausfeld said. Under magnification, he could see the dark brown silhouette of preserved brain nestled in the arthropod's skull.

"It's pretty bloody marvelous, actually. ? I was sitting looking at the thing, going, 'Oh my goodness gracious,'" Strausfeld said. With only five hours left before he had to leave to give a scheduled talk and fly home, Strausfeld got busy photographing the discovery.

An analysis of the brain revealed it to be in three parts, just as the brains of modern insects are in three parts (known as the protocerebrum, deutocerebrum and tritocerebrum). Nerves from the eyes extend into the protocerebrum, nerves from the antennaes feed into the ancient creature's deutocerebrum, and a third nerve root from further back in the body extends into the tritocerebrum. The researchers report the findings in this week's issue of the journal Nature.

This complex,?insectlike brain?suggests that rather than insects arising from simple branchiopods, today's arthropods descend from a complex-brained ancestor. Branchiopods would later have shed some of this complexity, Strausfeld said, while other crustaceans and insects kept it. In fact, he said, the brain may have evolved to segment into three parts very early on; mammals, including humans, have a?forebrain, midbrain and hindbrain, suggesting a common organization.

"Lots of people don't like that idea, sharing a brain with a beetle, but there's good evidence suggesting that you do," Strausfeld said.

Bug brains may seem simple to us, but arthropods are at the base of many a food chain, making them crucial creatures, Strausfeld said. He and his team plan to return to China to hunt out more ancient arthropod brains.

"What we want to do, of course, is go deeper in time," Strausfeld said.

Merry Cupcakes: More Than Just a Pretty Face - Food & Drink ...

Brunswick Street?s new sweet spot offers cupcakes with a surprisingly healthy twist.

Arriving at Fitzroy?s darling new sweet-slinger, Merry Cupcakes, owner and cupcake creator-in-chief Mary Lin is cashing up. Things must have gone pretty well for the dainty little shop that day because (much to our horror) there were no cupcakes left. Chatting with Qualia Creative?s Tim Cruickshank ? who designed the shop and the brand ? to distract from the disappointment, he reveals that the project was in fact a personal one for his friend Lin.

?When I was putting the design together, my concept was one word: ?cute?,? says Cruickshank with a laugh. And cute Merry Cupcakes certainly is. From outside the shop itself looks like something out of a tooth-loosening fantasy village, all cream with pinkish-red and sky-blue frosting. Even the logo?s typeface was customised by Cruickshank to evoke the smooth cursive of icing writing.

Inside, the atmosphere is light, airy and uncluttered. The stools that line the custom Goodsir and Otto Douglas Fir tables were commissioned in Merry Cupcakes red and blue and they give the otherwise white shop a candy-coated atmosphere. Which is all to say that Merry Cupcakes looks delicious.

But what about the cupcakes? Fewer indicators point to a baker?s skill than empty cases at the end of the day, so we were more than a little excited to sample the wares that Lin and her ream went out of their way to ensure we received the following morning. The results were far from disappointing. The cupcakes themselves matched all the shop?s pretty trimmings, and flavours like Strawberry Blonde (strawberry base, lemony topping), Bruce Banner (zucchini and banana with lime cream cheese) and Peanut Butter and Jelly Time are an indication of the variety on offer.

Perhaps most surprising is that Merry Cupcakes are actually semi-healthy. A trained dietician and nutritionist, Lin?s creations are vegan-friendly and boast 77 per cent less saturated fat than a typical cupcake, with avocado replacing butter and sneaky soy masquerading as cream cheese. Not that Lin really wants you to think about any of that. She?s confident enough to let the quality of her baking speak for itself.

And healthier or not, everything about Merry Cupcakes says positively wicked.

(AP) ? Vice President Joe Biden and Republican Rep. Paul Ryan seized the campaign spotlight Thursday night for a 90-minute debate, their only faceoff of the 2012 race for the White House.

The encounter between the 69-year-old vice president and 42-year-old Wisconsin congressman was a high-profile interlude between last week's race-altering debate featuring President Barack Obama and Republican Mitt Romney and next Tuesday's return engagement.

Romney has gained ground in national and battleground-state surveys in the week since he shared a stage with the president, and even Obama has conceded he performed poorly.

Mocking recent changes in Romney's rhetoric, Obama told a Miami rally on Thursday, "After running for more than a year in which he called himself severely conservative, Mitt Romney is trying to convince you that he was severely kidding."

Romney visited with 93-year-old evangelist Billy Graham in North Carolina ? 'Prayer is the most helpful thing you can do for me," he told the evangelist ? before an evening rally in Asheville.

For Biden, Thursday night's debate was his first since the 2008 campaign, when he shared a stage with Sarah Palin, then John McCain's running mate.

Ryan spars frequently with Democrats during debates on legislation on the House floor and in the House Budget Committee, which he chairs, but not in a one-on-one encounter covering 90 minutes and a virtually unlimited range of topics.

For all their differences, the two men shared a common objective, to advance the cause of their tickets in a close race for the presidency ? and avoid a gaffe that might forever seal their place in the history of debates.

Romney's choice of Ryan as running mate over the summer cheered conservatives in the House, many of whom regard him as their leader on budget and economic issues. The seven-term lawmaker has authored a pair of deficit-reducing budgets in the past two years that call for spending cuts and changes in Medicare, blueprints that Republicans passed through the House and Obama and his allies in Congress frequently criticize. He also champions a no-tax increase approach to economic policy.

As a senator before becoming vice president, Biden was chairman of the Foreign Relations and Judiciary committees, and he has long experience in national security issues. More recently, he was Obama's point man in arduous, ultimately unsuccessful negotiations with Republicans on steps to cut the deficit.

Both Ryan and Biden held extensive rehearsals, with stand-ins for their opponents.

Biden turned to Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., who is well-versed in Ryan's policy views from his tenure as senior Democrat on the Budget Committee.

Ryan's foil in rehearsal was former Solicitor General Ted Olson, a skillful courtroom advocate.

Martha Raddatz of ABC News had moderator duties.

After they meet next week in Hempstead, N.Y., Obama and Romney will have one more debate, Oct. 22 in Boca Raton, Fla.
