Self Improvement | Daily positive affirmations for law of attraction

Posted On: Tue, November 27th, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views 17 | Word Count: 562

How affirmation can be defined??

Thinking positively is the road towards the fundamentals of personal growth. The way you think and the word you speak are the revelations of your affirmations. So your affirmation can be either of ?negative? or of ?positive? denominations. As we keep ourselves busy with our inner dialogue; we keep on shuffling between negativities and positivites. Any one will try to focus on the positivites and keep the negativities at bay. In our daily chores, whatever our inner truth or inner beliefs prompt us; we reveal it through our affirmations.

Our affirmations are our beliefs.

Whatever we think as true, they turn to be our beliefs. That means we are the creators of our own truths. We learn about the truths since our childhood. The truths are been programmed in our sub-conscious mind by our parents, elder siblings, teachers, family members and friends during the early ages of our life. All our thought patterns are not going to serve us during our daily chores, so naturally the affirmations goaded by negativity are replaced by the positivities. As a normal function, our subconscious mind soaks all the beliefs and basing on these beliefs creates a world around us. Our subconscious mind, being powerful, hardly sieves true or false from among their mixes and so incidentally creates the affirmation whatever it finds to be believable.?

If the law of states are to be referenced, ?like attracts like?, i.e. negatives attract negatives and positives attracts positives, whatever are our dominant thoughts they find the ways to get manifested. So, it is desirable that bringing positive changes towards reality, our thoughts must be programmed. The powerful ?arm of positive thinking? should be our daily affirmations in positive way. The reflection must come like,? I can do it, I love this??.etc.? ?An affirmation must meet all the following requirements to become effective:

  • Affirmation should be precise and specific
  • Affirmations needs to be positive, example?(I am healthy, in place of I am not sick)
  • It is desirable that affirmations should be expressed in present tense, example---(I love my fate, in place of I will love my fate)

Suitable time of expressing affirmation

The ideal time to express positive affirmation for law of attraction is in the morning when you get up and also in the night when you go to bed. It is a psychological drill, the more you think about it you will get the faster result of it becoming as a reality. As our subconscious mind becomes programmed to believe the affirmations, it results into conversions into positive actions for our conscious mind. You must feel about its most possible emerging appearance likely to be.

Law of attraction

Here are some useful tools for you to condition yourself according to your desire:

To change yourself you need to change your conditions. Your innermost thoughts may find expressions while you are amidst your ambitions, fancies, wishes and whims. You can relate it with the growth of a sapling from a seed. When we want to change our condition, we need to ponder about its way of changing.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) ? Hundreds of millions of dollars from Kabul Bank were spirited out of Afghanistan ? some smuggled in airline food trays ? to bank accounts in more than two dozen countries, according to an independent review released on Wednesday about massive fraud that led to the collapse of the nation's largest financial institution.

The report, which was financed by international donors, offers new details about how the men at Kabul Bank and their friends and relatives got rich off $861 million in fraudulent loans in what the International Monetary Fund has called a Ponzi scheme that used customer deposits and operated under nascent banking oversight in the war-torn country.

The report describes Kabul Bank as a sophisticated operation with one set of books for the eyes of regulators and another in the back room that logged how those running the bank and others were fattening their wallets.

Loans were made, but rarely repaid. Borrowers took out loans to pay back loans. Company documents and financial statements were fabricated. The bank's credit department used more than 100 corporate stamps for fake companies to make documents look authentic. The bank operated some of its more than 100 branches without a permit from the government.

The 87-page report, which was conducted to satisfy one of several benchmarks the IMF asked the Afghan government to meet in cleaning up the scandal, points to poor oversight by Afghan banking regulators, political interference in the criminal investigation and activities by a special judicial tribunal hearing the case that it said were "well outside the legal norms of criminal procedure."

The bank's failure and subsequent bailout represents more than 5 percent of Afghanistan's gross domestic product, making it "one of the largest banking failures in the world," according to the report by the Independent Joint Anti-Corruption Monitoring and Evaluation Committee. The report said "hundreds of millions" were sent out of the impoverished nation where Afghan, U.S. and NATO forces are fighting an 11-year-old war with the Taliban and other militants.

The committee behind the report consisted of three Afghan professionals and scholars and three international corruption experts, and was funded by Britain's Department of International Development and the Danish International Development Agency.

"Every citizen in Afghanistan will bear the cost of the hundreds of millions of dollars required to secure deposits and the tens of millions of dollars required to deal with the aftermath," the report said.

The Kabul Bank scandal is a saga about money-grabbing, weak banking oversight, lax prosecution, nepotism, political contributions and fraud. The cast of characters includes a poker-playing bank chairman, an Afghan central bank chairman who feared his life was endangered and fled to the U.S., the wealthy brothers of the Afghan president and vice president, and bank shareholders ? some who bought posh properties in Dubai and spent lavishly on themselves and their circle of friends and relatives.

In October 2011, Afghan lawmakers passed a bill to provide up to $825 million to recapitalize Afghanistan's central bank for bailing out Kabul Bank. Whatever money is recovered from debtors will offset this amount.

"This is the money from the budget of Afghanistan ? from the pockets of Afghan people," Drago Kos, chairman of the committee, told reporters at a news conference Wednesday in Kabul. "This money should be much better used for health care, education and security."

President Hamid Karzai announced in April 2011 that Kabul Bank would be put into receivership. Earlier this month, a trial began for more than 20 people indicted in the debacle, which has become a symbol of the country's deep-rooted corruption and cronyism. The case is being closely followed by Afghans and international donors because it is a barometer of government officials' pledge to root out patronage, graft and show accountability to international donors.

The report said Afghan authorities learned in late 2009 that "Kabul Bank was moving money through food trays" on flights operated by Pamir Airways, a multimillion-dollar Afghan airline that was established with loans from the bank and has since gone out of business.

An official knowledgeable about the report said as much as $900 million ? a majority derived from loan schemes ? was moved out of the country through electronic transfers from the bank between March 2007 and April 2011 and ended up in the bank accounts of related parties in 28 countries. The list of countries includes the United Arab Emirates, Latvia, China, Turkmenistan, Britain, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Turkey, Russia, the United States and Switzerland.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to disclose the information, which was not included in the report.

According to the report, 10 Pamir Airways pilots were paid $320,000 in salaries between March 2008 and November 2010 under the description of "pilots of cash delivery."

The report said the Afghan attorney general's office recently asked for international assistance in tracking the funds abroad but the request was limited to help from four countries ? Switzerland, France, Britain and India ? for information on funds tied to the former top two bank executives.

The report also criticizes the attorney general's office for not undertaking a substantial probe into the bank until April 2011 ? a year after the news of the bank's problems surfaced, eight months after nervous customers ran to withdraw deposits and five months after the central bank had asked the attorney general's office to start a criminal investigation.

The indictment names more than 20 bank executives, bank employees, central bank workers and others who allegedly benefited from the fraud. The charges include money laundering, misuse of authority, using counterfeit documents and opening accounts under pseudonyms. But the report claims the indictment is tainted by political influence.

"Information received during the inquiry indicates that the final decision about who to indict was made at the political level in the spring of 2011 by a high-ranking (Afghan) committee ? and that prosecutors from the attorney general's office were called in to amend the indictment to conform to the decisions taken," the report said.

Basir Azizi, a spokesman for the attorney general's office, said Tuesday that the Kabul Bank case was not treated as a political issue.

"We strongly reject any comments that the attorney general's office dealt with this case as a political issue," he said.

The committee also is critical of the special tribunal that Karzai created to hear the case. The report said the tribunal has had off-the-record meetings with accused individuals and potential witnesses, has conducted its own probes on the sidelines and has held meetings with shareholders, urging them to repay money ? a job tasked to the receivership.

As of Oct. 31, the receivership has recovered $135.3 million in cash as well as assets with a book value of $181.1 million, according to the committee.

The report gives the Afghan central bank credit for carrying out various examinations of the bank, saying it tried to take enforcement measures or corrective actions four times after consistently spotting regulatory violations. But the committee said that unless the central bank and other Afghan institutions move to operate independently, stand up to political interference and hold wrongdoers accountable, the Afghan government will never be able to sustain a fully functioning democracy.

The report said $861 million, or 92 percent of Kabul Bank's loan book, went to 19 individuals and companies. Among them are key bank shareholders, including Sherkhan Farnood, the former bank chairman and a world-class poker player, former chief executive officer Khalilullah Ferozi, and the brothers of Karzai and first Vice President Mohammad Qasim Fahim.

Other bank funds ? an estimated $66 million ? were spent on lavish expenses, cars, rent, bonuses, salary advances and salaries for employees that did not exist

In 2009, the central bank advised Afghan banks to refrain from making political contributions in the presidential campaign.

"This letter was not enough to dissuade Kabul Bank, which reportedly provided millions of dollars to the campaign of at least one presidential candidate ? in addition to dozens of cars, and payment of the entire media campaign including billboards and television advertisements," the report said.

5 Ways to Build Your Book Audience ? Writing and Illustrating

At the Free Craft Day this month, I gave a workshop on Marketing Yourself.? Author Katia Raina attended.? Last week she wrote an article on editor Sara Sargents workshop to share with you.? This week, she wrote an article about my workshop, so the rest of you might benefit from some of the things I shared.

Here?s Katia?s article:

Never Too Early To Start Building Your Online Presence: Kathy?s 5 Ways To Do It Right

No matter what stage of the writing process you find yourself braving at the moment, it?s always a good time to think about marketing, promotion and social media.

Not published yet? Use that to your advantage. Take the time to write, that comes first, for sure. But also take the time now to think about the marketing strategies for your future or current book and start building your online presence. That?s the advice of many these days, including the former Regional Advisor, author, illustrator and a local kidlit force in her own right Kathy Temean.

During the New Jersey SCBWI craft weekend on November 10, Kathy gave the attendees lots of advice on how to make social media work for authors, be they established, or those trying to break in.

Here is her list of 5 ways to get the right start: (she actually offered the participants a handout with 25 of those, but I have condensed them in the interest of online brevity)

1. Identify your strategy

Kathy calls this step the most important one of all. Before you get too involved in online marketing, take a moment to think: what are you trying to achieve? Formulate your own vision, Kathy advises, something to measure your success by as you go along. ?Your social media strategy should become an interesting and relevant voice in the conversation,? she says. Make that your focus and your goal, and you can?t go wrong.

2. Start a blog

A blog used to be an optional thing for writers. Over the last few years, however, it seems to have become a ?must,? Kathy says. Think of your blog as ?a hub? for your online marketing activity ? a place where all your marketing efforts ultimately go back to. Kathy recommends WordPress as a great, easy, free place to start a blog. Don?t wait for when you are published to do this. If you make friends along your journey, then your success will mean all that much more to them when at last you have some good news to announce on your blog.

Many people ask, ?what should my blog be about?? Think about your site?s reader: why would she want to visit your blog? What would she get from it? A blog doesn?t always have to be about writing, either, Kathy says. Everyone reads and buys books. You can build your networking list no matter what you choose to blog about. Think about your hobbies. What are you good at doing? Do you knit? How about a blog on knitting? Are you someone who loves to find a good shopping deal? Is your child on the swim team? Everyone has knowledge they can share, other than what they do each day. No one cares, unless you end up being a big star.

The bottom line: don?t just try to promote yourself. Don?t be a diva. Or, as Kathy puts it, ?add value to your community.?

3. Give more than you receive, build quality relationships, respect the community and stop pushing.

?You can?t burst onto a social media scene with a sense of entitlement,? Kathy says. ?You have to earn respect from others.? In social networking terms, ?giving? means visiting other sites, commenting there, participating in other virtual conversations. Think about what you truly have to give to others online, and they will appreciate you for it.

As your online relationships build and deepen, people you interact with will be more willing to help. Just make sure you don?t pepper them with requests for favors. Keep your relationships strong, but keep your expectations low. Don?t keep reminding people that your book is available, don?t keep ?shouting? about your content. Begging for comments or tweets is a sure way to alienate the very visitors and potential readers you?re trying to attract. Just let things evolve naturally. Don?t react too vehemently to someone disagreeing with you online. ?Instead of constantly fighting back, take the time to listen to what they?re really saying,? Kathy says. ?You don?t know everything, and you can learn from others if you take the time to listen.?

In the end, Kathy asks everyone to ?just be nice.? Whatever you do, ?do not hard sell!? Kathy warns. ?If you want to act like a used car salesman? go work for one.?

4. Focus

Between MySpace, Pinrest, Goodreads and Tumblr, social sites are multiplying like mushrooms under the rain these days. Kathy recommends not trying to be everywhere, or you will become overwhelmed and ?anti-social.? She recommends choosing four sites to focus your energies on. Facebook is good for sharing details of family life, which can lead to deeper, more personal connections. Twitter can be a great tool to drive traffic to your blog, especially if you post on it daily. Posting on twitter doesn?t ? and probably shouldn?t ? be all about your blog, however. Re-tweet other people?s tweets. Tweet about other people?s blog posts. And, Kathy advises, though it might be a little overwhelming, if you choose twitter, try to drop in every day.? And if you are blogging set it up to automatically Tweet when you add a new post.? You can also have you post go driectly to facebook, too.

5. Engage your readers and remember the quality vs. quantity balance.

Don?t just talk at your readers on your site, Kathy recommends, but engage them. Weave in your personal experiences, or share how you have solved a problem. ?Tell stories on your blog,? Kathy says. ?People engage in stories. They connect with stories.? Try to keep your posts short enough to maintain the readers? attention ? Kathy recommends to keep it to 450 words or less. Ask a question at the end of your post. When someone new comments on your blog, email them a thank you. Place a poll on your blog. Or add a video. Also, sharing other people?s videos might be a great idea.

Also, think about how often you?d like to post. Posting daily as Kathy does, or even three times or week would attract more visitors, Kathy said, but it takes a huge time investment and commitment to produce quality content with such frequency.

Finally, if you just can?t see yourself committing to a blog, then Kathy says offer to write a guest post, or invite someone to post on your blog. Kathy?s own blog, with over 1200 daily visitors is not a bad site to write for once in a while. At the end of her presentation Kathy said she welcomed guest posts from other bloggers, that would be relevant to her site. After the workshop, I came up to her and took her up on it!

Good luck with your marketing efforts, everyone!

Katia Raina is the author of ?Castle of Concrete,? a young adult novel about a timid half-Russian, half-Jewish teen in search of a braver ?self? reuniting with her dissident mother in the last year of the collapsing Soviet Union, to be published by Namelos. On her blog, The Magic Mirror, http://katiaraina.wordpress.com Katia talks about writing and history, features interviews, book lists and all sorts of literary randomness.

Thank you Katia for another well-written article.? We look forward to reading the next one you send.

Talk tomorrow,

Kathy

There are circumstances beyond your control that can make life difficult, and it?s up to you to figure out how you will respond to those circumstances. You may find yourself unemployed, suddenly, and then unsure of what exactly to do next. Starting a business from home is sometimes a better option than trying to find another job. This article will help you by giving you advice on how to get started being your own boss.

When you borrow money, investors may feel entitled to ask more questions than you are willing to answer. Maximize your profits with the money you already have.

Look for sites that let you buy your business supplies at wholesale prices. There are so many options when it comes to saving money on your purchases. Use the information to create the best vendor list possible. To buy your supplies this way, you need a business license.

TIP! Before making any final decisions about your home-based business, realistically assess what the business will need. Look at your home business opportunity from all angles.

You can earn a tax break after wining and dining your clients. If you occupy your clients and take them to dinner, you will be able to take some of the expense off your taxes. Make sure you save all receipts from any of these outings, because if you are audited, you will have to prove that these people were truly clients.

See to it that your home based business will fit into your family?s schedule. If you think that it can interfere with your family?s daily life, you may need to rethink what type of home based business you plan to start.

TIP! The boundary between home and work often blurs when you live in both locations. To overcome this, try to separate your work time from your family time.

Contact owners of other home businesses and offer ad space on your website, in return for placing your ads on their sites. Sharing advertising space can increase traffic to all of the participating sites and increase their search engine rankings. Be sure that your business is being accurately promoted and that people are always aware of what they?re clicking on.

You want to make sure you have an accountant to help you keep track of money matters in your business. This can help your bottom dollar because you should be spending your time on your business and not on learning laws about taxes.

Promote your business online. Create a website yourself, or have a webmaster design a site that customers can navigate easily. Make sure that your website?s content is pertinent to your customers. Encourage them to communicate with you and place orders online. Continue to fine tune and investigate new ways to make your website a successful marketing tool for your company.

TIP! Get all of your business dealings in writing in the form of a contract. Be sure that your contract is completely legal and lays out exactly what is expected from each party from start to finish.

At first it may seem nice to work in your pajamas, but before long you may miss interacting with others on a daily basis. Make plans to meet people at other places besides your home during the week to stay in touch, reinforce your personal connections and meet the need for interaction with others.

When you can get by with a simple, modest website, do so; invest in thorough reliability testing instead of fancy bells and whistles. Be certain that the website loads the same way on every kind of browser, including those on smartphones and cellphones. Make sure that the pages display the same way on all platforms. Verifying your website?s accessibility across multiple platforms will ensure that you don?t miss out on any potential customers just because they use a different browser than you do.

Keep all of your home business contracts in one place, so you can find them easily if you need to discuss a point with a client. Consider also keeping your own contracts in a similar place, so you can find them quickly in the event that you need to resolve issues with your service providers.

TIP! While at work, set ground rules to make sure family members and friends do not interrupt you. If you have a friend who likes to drop in or a relative who always shows up early for visits, tell them nicely that you are working.

Know what your production costs are when trying to sell products you make to avoid losing money. Traditionally, a wholesale mark-up from cost is approximately twice the base cost. On the other hand, the standard retail markup is double the cost of wholesale. Set the prices for your products so that you can make a profit and still keep your customer happy at the same time.

While reading this article, hopefully you were inspired to take your life into your own hands. You were given a lot of tips about starting a home based business, and now is the time to grab the bull by the horns and go for it! You can keep this article for reference to read anytime you are not sure what the next step you should be taking is.

Transposable elements reveal a stem cell specific class of long noncoding RNAs

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

Over a decade after sequencing the human genome, it has now become clear that the genome is not mostly 'junk' as previously thought. In fact, the ENCODE project consortium of dozens of labs and petabytes of data have determined that these 'noncoding' regions house everything from disease trait loci to important regulatory signals, all the way through to new types of RNA-based genes.

Yet over 70 years ago, it was first proclaimed that all this junk wasn't so junky. Barbara McClintock discovered the first utility of all of this junk DNA: jumping genes, also known as transposable elements. These genes serve only one purpose, which is to replicate themselves and reinsert randomly in the genome, or do they? Ironically, at the same time two other scientists (Roy Britten and Eric Davidson) proposed that jumping genes may be involved in regulating cell specificity. Indeed, in an exciting new study published in Genome Biology, John Rinn and David Kelley based at Harvard University and the Broad Institute in Boston, USA, provide genome-wide evidence that jumping genes may shape when a gene is turned on or off in stem cells.

"We set out to investigate how jumping genes have invaded the genome to potentially give rise to new genes in the 'junk regions'" says Rinn, the senior author of the study. "It has become very clear that there are thousands of long intergenic noncoding RNA genes (lincRNAs) that may herald a new paradigm for human health and disease." Yet how these genes have evolved from such a desert wasteland has remained a burning question. A new clue has emerged from the jumping genes that compose nearly 50% of the human genome.

"I like to think of it as 'on the origins of lincRNAs'" says Rinn. "It doesn't take more than a brief survey of McClintock, Britten and Davidson's work in the 50s and 60s to realize that transposable elements were a great first place to look. The human genome is in a constant battle with transposable elements with them randomly hopping into new locations, for good or for bad." Kelley adds that "In my Ph.D. work assembling genomes from sequence fragments, these repetitive hopping genes were a major nuisance, which got me thinking about what they were doing in the genome". The study published by Rinn and Kelley finds a striking affinity for a class of hopping genes known as endogenous retroviruses, or ERVs, to land in lincRNAs. The study finds that ERVs are not only enriched in lincRNAs, but also often sit at the start of the gene in an orientation to promote transcription. Perhaps more intriguingly, lincRNAs containing an ERV family known as HERVH correlated with expression in stem cells relative to dozens of other tested tissues and cells. According to Rinn, "This strongly suggests that ERV transposition in the genome may have given rise to stem cell-specific lincRNAs. The observation that HERVHs landed at the start of dozens of lincRNAs was almost chilling; that this appears to impart a stem cell-specific expression pattern was simply stunning!"

These results also raise the tantalizing question of why transposable elements, derived from viruses, regulate stem cell-specific expression in mammals. Rinn hypothesizes that "transposable elements may not be limited to giving rise to new lincRNA genes, but may also provide an engine for the evolution of RNA-encoding genes. I like to think of it as the 'genome getting dirty': in the same way that kids that play in the dirt develop better immune systems, the genome may be 'getting dirty' with transposable elements, and once in a while, this has an advantageous effect of producing a new lincRNA gene."

What is clear is that transposable elements may control the tissue-specific expression of lincRNAs, thereby affecting the evolution and function of lincRNAs with important regulatory roles. Following on from these results, it will be interesting to determine other ways hopping genes may have shaped lincRNA evolution. Kelley notes that "This study merely scratches the surface of the possible roles of transposable elements influencing lincRNA function".

In shocker, Israel's Barak quits politics

JERUSALEM (AP) ? Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Monday abruptly announced he was quitting politics, injecting new turmoil into the Israeli political system weeks ahead of general elections.

Barak, Israel's most-decorated soldier and one-time prime minister, said he would stay on in his current post until a new government is formed following the Jan. 22 balloting.

His resignation could mean the departure of the most moderating influence on hawkish Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who holds a wide lead in polls and is expected to easily win re-election. Barak, who heads a small centrist faction in parliament, often served as Netanyahu's unofficial envoy to Washington to smooth over differences with the Obama White House.

His impending departure comes at a key time for Israel, as the nation struggles to find its way in a region where the old order of Arab autocrats has been swept aside by the Arab Spring and the rise of Islamist political parties. Israel also faces a looming decision on whether to attack Iran's nuclear program, which the Jewish state fears is designed to develop atomic weapons ? a charge Tehran denies.

Less than a week ago, Barak led an eight-day military offensive against the Hamas militant group that rules the Gaza Strip. The fighting, aimed at ending rocket fire from the Palestinian territory. ended in a fragile truce.

"I didn't make this decision (to leave politics) without hesitating, but I made it wholeheartedly," he told a hastily arranged news conference, saying he had been wrestling with the decision for weeks.

He evaded repeated questions about whether he might agree to serve as a Cabinet minister in an upcoming government, leaving open the possibility that he might still retain an impact on Israeli politics. While most Cabinet ministers also hold parliamentary seats, they do not have to be elected lawmakers, and such appointments have been made in the past.

Barak, 70, made the surprise announcement even after polls showed his breakaway Independence Party gaining momentum after the Gaza campaign.

Despite the bump in the polls, Barak still could have found himself fighting for his political survival once election day rolls around. Surveys before the Gaza operation were unkind to his party, at times showing it polling too weakly to even send a single representative to parliament.

"I feel I have exhausted my political activity, which had never been an object of desire for me. There are many ways for me to serve the country, not just through politics," he said, adding that his decision was spurred in part by his desire to spend more time with his family.

Possible replacements include Vice Premier Moshe Yaalon, a former military chief, and Shaul Mofaz, a former military chief and defense minister, who now serves as chairman of the opposition Kadima Party.

Barak's political career was as turbulent as his 36-year military career was dazzling.

The former war hero and military chief of staff blazed into politics on the coattails of his mentor, Yitzhak Rabin, and had been viewed by many as his heir apparent. With a resume that includes commanding some of Israel's most daring hostage rescue operations and raids, Barak was elected prime minister from the centrist Labor Party in 1999 ? just four years after retiring from the military. Many Israelis hoped he would parlay what was seen as his sharp strategic mind and unorthodox methods on the battlefield into long-elusive accords with the Palestinians and Syria.

But the consensus-building so important in the political arena did not mesh well with the go-it-alone style that served him in the military. Political allies and foes alike considered Barak aloof and imperious, and others questioned whether he possessed the interpersonal skills necessary to negotiate elusive accords with Israel's enemies.

Disappointed with his performance, Israeli voters booted Barak out of the premier's office in record time ? less than two years ? after his government unraveled with the outbreak of a Palestinian uprising and the collapse of U.S.-sponsored peace talks.

Hard-liner Ariel Sharon trounced him in a 2001 election. Barak left behind a legacy of failed peacemaking with the Palestinians and Syria, despite unprecedented offers of sweeping territorial concessions, and a contentious decision to end Israel's 18-year military occupation of south Lebanon overnight, which created a vacuum quickly filled by the anti-Israel Hezbollah guerrilla group.

For six years, the onetime Labor leader kept himself busy with lucrative speaking engagements and business consulting, reportedly amassing millions and cementing his image as a politician out of touch with his constituents.

But Barak returned to politics in 2007, handily recapturing the Labor leadership and replacing civilian Defense Minister Amir Peretz, who led a much-criticized war in Lebanon the previous summer.

But while Israelis liked Barak as defense minister, they didn't want him as their prime minister, and his party, which had led Israel to independence and governed the nation for its first three decades, lost its public appeal. In the 2009 election that brought Netanyahu to power, Labor won an all-time low of 13 of parliament's 120 seats.

Barak's dovish base turned on him after he led Labor into Netanyahu's conservative government, accusing Barak of betraying the party's ideals by joining forces with a man who at the time did not even recognize the principle of a Palestinian state.

In January 2011, he bolted Labor to form a new party, Independence, which has largely failed to resonate with the public.

Israeli hard-liners disliked him, too, accusing him of undermining the West Bank settlement movement by holding up building approvals, clearing squatters from West Bank homes and encouraging Netanyahu to support a temporary settlement construction slowdown.

But if Barak was unpopular with the public, he retained his clout with Netanyahu, whom he commanded in an elite special operations unit. As the prime minister's point man with the United States, Barak was welcomed in Washington as a moderating influence on Netanyahu's hard line policies toward the Arab world and Iran's nuclear program.

That alliance saw some rocky times recently with reports the prime minister objected to Barak's newly moderate tone that Israel should defer to the U.S. in deciding whether to attack Iranian nuclear facilities.

But the two seemed to have patched up things, appearing to work harmoniously on the recent Gaza campaign.

In a statement Monday, Netanyahu said he "respected" Barak's decision.

Bill O'Brien May Have Cursed In Postgame Interview After Penn State Win Over Wisconsin (VIDEO)

An emotional Bill O'Brien appeared eager to get his words out when Jessica Mendoza of ESPN2 asked him about his players following Penn State's win over Wisconsin in the season finale. Many thought that, in his haste, the first-year head coach didn't get those words out as he intended.

Although the Nittany Lions' head coach meant to call his players "a bunch of fighters," many people believe they heard him call them "a bunch of f***ers."

"They fight hard," O'Brien continued, giving no indication that he was aware of any gaffe. "They're a bunch of great kids. It's been a memorable year."

While there are conflicting opinions on whether he dropped an F-Bomb or not, several took to Twitter to talk about what they thought they heard. What do you think he said? Was that an accidental four-letter word? Or did his voice just crack while saying "fighters"? Let us know in the comments.

Deaths and Suicides linked to WCA: more evidence needed for ...

At DPAC we receive regular emails from people who have lost loved ones and attribute this to the process of the WCA, indeed with recent evidence of 73 deaths and suicides per week we are seeing these emails increasing. ?December 3rd is being marked as a day of remembrance for all Atos victims. Disability activist Samuel Miller from Canada is taking this outrage against human rights as far as he possibly can in an effort to secure justice.

Samuel has made many efforts at the United Nations level on behalf of disabled people in the UK and the constant attacks they face under the Tory regime. We all owe him a debt of gratitude. He is looking for evidence of linked Atos deaths. DPAC supports this and want to help in any way we can ?below we repost the blog from Vox Political with permission from Mike from Wales.

Please help if you can by publicising and also subscribe to Vox Political at: http://mikesivier.wordpress.com/2012/11/25/ids-off-the-hook-with-icc-so-evidence-needed-of-atos-deaths/

IDS off the hook with ICC ? so evidence needed of Atos?deaths

?Brian McArdle. On the BBC?s Question Time last Thursday, Iain Duncan Smith flew into a rage when Owen Jones challenged him about what happened to Mr McArdle, ?57 years old, paralysed down one side, blind in one eye; he couldn?t speak. He died one day after being found ?fit for work? by Atos.?

People whose family members have died while going through the DWP/Atos work capability assessment are being urged to contact a disability specialist -?who has been seeking international legal action against the austerity-enforced injustice.

Vox Political reported back in September that Samuel Miller had contacted the International Criminal Court in The Hague, intending to file a complaint against Iain Duncan Smith, Chris Grayling and Maria Miller, the ministers at the Department for Work and Pensions, considered most responsible for ?draconian welfare reforms and the resultant deaths of their society?s most vulnerable?.

Mr Miller got in touch over the weekend, but said that the result had been disappointing: ?They stated that the International Criminal Court has a very limited jurisdiction. The Court may only address the crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes as defined by Articles 6 to 8 of the Rome Statute.?

The Rome Statute is the document under which the ICC was established. Article 7, which covers crimes against humanity, states: ?For the purpose of this Statute, ?crime against humanity? means any of the following acts when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population, with knowledge of the attack:

?(k) Inhumane acts ? intentionally causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or to mental or physical health.?

I thought this ? Article 7 (k) ? was a perfect description of what the DWP and its ministers are trying to achieve, and Mr Miller agreed. But he said: ?Clearly the ICC is striving to discourage the filing of austerity complaints.?

There is a way forward. He added: ?On a welcome note, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights recently acknowledged that austerity measures may violate human rights ? which certainly is a step in the right direction.?

He?s right. The chair of the UN committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Ariranga Govindasamy Pillay said on October 23 that, although member states face tough decisions when dealing with rising public deficits, austerity measures are potentially violations of their legal obligations to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

?All States Parties should avoid at all times taking decisions which lead to the denial or infringement of economic, social and cultural rights,? Pillay said, citing an open letter to States Parties from the committee earlier this year that clarified the committee?s position on austerity measures.

By ratifying the Covenant, member states like the UK have a legally binding obligation to progressively improve, without retrogression, universal access to goods and services such as healthcare, education, housing and social security and to ensure just and favourable conditions of work, without discrimination, in accordance with established international standards. These rights must be achieved by using the maximum of available resources.

Pillay pointed out that austerity measures are also a disincentive to economic growth and thereby hamper progressive realization of economic and social rights.

The committee had pointed out that social insecurity and political instability, as seen in parts of Europe today, were also potential effects of the denial or infringement of economic, social and cultural rights.

The poor, women, children, persons with disabilities, older persons, people with HIV/AIDS, indigenous peoples, ethnic minorities, migrants and refugees were particularly at risk, the committee had noted.

Having identified the possibility, we come to the burden of proof. Mr Miller said: ?My best hope lies in procuring coroner?s reports where the cause of death is found to be destitution and/or suicide.?

Inevitably, there is a problem. The UK Coronial system does not involve the collating of such information, nor does it look for national trends. The role of the Coroner is case specific, so wider information is not available. This is because the system of inquests into deaths was never intended to investigate whether those deaths were being caused by insane decisions of the government itself.

The law in relation to death certification may be amended in 2014 to provide for Medical Examiners whose role will be to examine such matters ? but that is two years from now, and the DWP/Atos system could pile up another 7,600 bodies in that time (using the generally-accepted average of 73 deaths per week).

Mr Miller has written to the DWP, seeking a change of coroners? duties to allow proper and robust reporting of trends such as stress-related deaths, suicides and/or destitution deaths of welfare recipients and recipients who perished shortly after being stripped of their benefits can be reported to both the DWP and the Ministry of Justice.

But I think we all know there is little chance of success there. This government is hardly going to hand over the tools by which its own ministers might end up in an international court. They?re insane, but they?re not stupid!

So people are going to have to do it themselves. We know about high-profile cases in which deaths have been blamed on Atos. Information about the others needs to be available now.

This is why I want to appeal for anyone who has lost a loved one because of the DWP/Atos work capability assessment system to get in touch with Mr Miller. He needs to know the verdict that was reached at the inquests into their deaths.

His email address is disabilityinliterature@gmail.com

I would strongly urge that anyone writing to Mr Miller keeps their correspondence to the point. It is to be hoped that he will receive a strong response, but this entails a large amount of work. It is therefore important to make that work as easy as possible, perhaps by putting the deceased?s name, address and the verdict at the top of your email.

Pew: U.S. Parents Of Online Teens Worried About Reputational ...

While European legislators are considering adding a ?right to be forgotten? to data privacy laws?to give Internet users some control over who owns their data, U.S. parents are worried about the reputational damage of their teens? online activities and what advertisers are learning about them, according to a new report by the?Pew?Internet Project and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, called Parents, Teens and Online Privacy. The research found that many parents are also continuing to take steps to mitigate and monitor their children?s online activities.

Chief among parents? concerns about their online teens? activities is the age-old worry about risks posed by strangers ? 53 percent of parents said they are very concerned about their kids interacting with strangers online. But, more interestingly, almost half (49 percent) of surveyed parents said they are very concerned about ?reputation management? on behalf of their kids and what they?re doing online. Forty-four percent of parents expressed the same level of concern about the impact on future academic or employment opportunities, and 46 percent flagged that high level of concern about how much information advertisers can learn about their kids? online behaviour.

Taking the proportion of ?very concerned? and ?somewhat concerned? responses together, parents of online teens profess themselves to be more worried about the information available to advertisers about their children?s online behaviour than how their children are interacting with strangers online.

The research also looked at actions parents are taking to try to combat concerns about their teens? online activities. It found that 44 percent of parents of online teens have read the privacy policies of websites their children are using, while half are using parental controls to try to control their online teens? activities (a ?statistically insignificant? drop from the 54 percent who reported doing so in 2011, according to Pew).

A large proportion (42 percent) said they had searched for their child?s name online ? a behaviour that is most likely for parents with teenagers who are at the top of the surveyed age range (12-17), when the children are likely to be negotiating the college admissions process.

The research also found parents of online teens are increasingly using social networking sites themselves, with 66 percent saying they use a social?networking site, up from 58 percent in 2011. According to previous research from the Pew Internet Project when both parents and teens use social?networking sites, the vast majority ?friend? each other. Focus group discussions with teens in this latest piece of research found they have mixed feelings about being friends with their?parents on sites such as Facebook ? with many having a positive attitude but some only ?friending? parents because they feel it is expected.

Here?s the summary of the research methodology

The 2012 Teens and Privacy Management Survey sponsored by the Pew Research Center?s Internet and?American Life Project obtained telephone interviews with a nationally representative sample of 802?teens aged 12 to 17 years?old and their parents living in the United States. The survey was conducted by?Princeton Survey Research Associates International. The interviews were done in English and Spanish by?Princeton Data Source, LLC from July 26 to September 30, 2012. Statistical results are weighted to?correct known demographic discrepancies.??The margin of sampling error for the complete set of?weighted data is ?4.5 percentage points.

Considering the relatively large proportion of parents expressing high levels of concern about their kids online behaviour in this research, it?s worth considering how asking parents how worried they are about their teens? behaviour might itself amplify any feelings of worry they have (for more on the importance of word order and phrasing in polling see this).

The DEFCON system used by the United States monitors the cumulative?severity of national security?threats. In the social media world, the significantly less serious equivalent is the WTF Level meter.

The world's?WTF Level is tracked by an?eponymous site, which basically?monitors "the amount of swearing on Twitter at any given moment."?It does this by checking public tweets against a list of swear words. (This list is kept secret in order to prevent an?evil mastermind from?somehow?manipulating the world's WTF Level, but the folks behind the WTF level site assure us that they've got the basics ? such as George Carlin's "seven dirty words"???covered.)

The WTF Level listed on the site is constantly recalculated as tweets are totalled up every 10 seconds to determine the rate of foul language. While America's DEFCON system uses numbered levels, WTF Level goes with somewhat more blunt descriptions:?"Mostly Polite," "Mild Cursing," "Tirades," "Expletive-Laced," and "Oh &@#?@&!"

We're assuming that the?&@#?@& must hit the fan in order for the world to hit WTF Level "Oh &@#?@&!"

They were both strikingly different, one lived in town and the other lived on a farm. ?I would like to share some stories about them, in a blog series called "Memories",? that are so inspiring and demonstrate how amazing they were. ?Today, I would like to tell you about my "Town Grandma". ? I remember this grandma was an "old grandma", she was born on August ?24, 1879, ?so when I was almost 6 ( just before she passed on) she was in her 70's.? Even though she died just before my 6th birthday it is amazing how much I remember about her. ?Maybe it was?because?she was truly my best friend.?

?This is a picture of my grandma and her 5 sisters. ?My grandma is on the top row on the right.

I want to share a story about her from the early 1900's

The year was 1913, Katie Nye Hodgkinson was a young mother of ?two little boys. ?She and her husband was a happy family living in a small little cabin just off the main road of 500 East in Vernal Utah. ? One day her?husband?Albert?receives a letter from the LDS church headquarters which ask if he would serve a ?two year full-time mission in the eastern states of?Kentucky?and Tennessee. ??Back in those days they served their missions without purse or script. This?meant?that they went without money and very little?previsions,??mainly the cloths on their back. ?While my Grandfather was gone serving his mission. My Grandma lived with her two little boy in her cabin alone. ?She was a very resourceful woman. During that time, she would take in laundry and?ironing?to provide for her little family. ?One evening she was in her cabin getting the boys ready for bed. ?She heard a noise coming from outside, a?screeching? howling sound. She goes to the front door, opens it, in the darkness she could see an object with a long tail running down the road. ?She couldn't tell exactly what it was, but she was very frightened and protective of her two little boys. ? The next morning she heard from her?neighbor, Mr. Sessions, that when he came home the night before he had seen a mountain lion around his house.? This one small story is an example of?strength??and courage to me, ?my grandma (whom I called Gram) had the ability to endure hardship, served others with faith and love, and?endured?to the end with dignity.

Because our heritage is so important to us, we like to display them throughout our home, This is a memory box that my daughter made for a 4-H project. ? She took a preshaped box that you get from the craft store. ?She tore up small pieces of scrapbook paper and Modge-Podged them to the box. ?She also Modge-Podged the picture. ?(It was a picture I?scanned?on to my computer and printed ) Then she ?embellished it with lace. ?She got a purple ribbon at our local county fair and a blue ribbon from the state fair. Do any of you have amazing stories of your ancestors? Leave a comment and tell us about them. We would love to read them.

What It Takes To Become A Hot Air Balloon Pilot

Hot Air ballooning is, in a way, flying. There are many aspects that set it apart from flying a plane or a helicopter, and different skills must be learned. Hot air ballooning is very scientific, and a large amount of experience is needed before any pilot can qualify. But it is worth all the hard work. Read on for more handy tips on becoming a pilot.

Balloons 101

Before anybody even sets foot inside a balloon basket with a captain's hat on, they first have to learn balloons inside out. This includes learning what the ground crew do. Most wannabe-pilots are put with the ground crew to start with. That way they can learn on the job about the balloon and what every piece of equipment is used for. This is the start of all knowledge that pilots must learn.

Learning On The Job

Piloting can only be taught to an extent in theory. The best way is to learn whilst watching what others do, and trying it for yourself. Once you have learnt all you can possibly know from being with the ground crew, it's time to become a student pilot. Commercial flight companies are most likely to have the time to take on a student. Before you intern, you must log everything you learnt with ground crew so your teacher can see how much you already know.

Before You Begin, Things You Need To Know

Not everybody can become a pilot as soon as they decide they want to become one. There is an age restriction, and anybody under the age of 14 cannot become a hot air balloon pilot. Even those who are above the age restriction will need supervision from trained pilots for their first few flights to ensure that they are capable. A written exam must be taken to prove you are knowledgeable enough to become a pilot. A flight test with an FFA (Federal Aviation Administrator) qualified examiner must also be taken.

One Final Tip

Get as much experience as you possibly can. The more you fly, the better you will become at flying. Once you have learnt all you can about flying there is nothing else to teach - you will then just have to do it. Experiencing different weather conditions and travelling with different numbers of passengers will set you up to be a pilot who can tackle any hot air balloon ride!

You probably can?t wait to get started marketing your business, but you really should know what you?re doing first. This article might help you pick up some very useful hints.

Try to use words like ?fast? when marketing your products and services. Time is a valuable commodity for most people so let them know that you do everything in a timely manner.

In your ad, use the word ?limited?. Consumers turn to the internet because they seek products outside of what the stores they can physically go to can offer them. They are looking for something that is different and unique. Selling products in a limited run often increases customers? sense of urgency about buying an exclusive item.

TIP! Be active on the major social media networks to increase your customer base. Creating a Facebook page and a Twitter can get you more clients.

Make use of positive selling tactics when marketing your product. Be certain that people understand why your products and services are relevant to their own lives. Shoppers should know this information once they have briefly visited your website or any other page on the web that is relevant to your operations. The positive message that you convey will carry over to potential customers, and increase the likelihood that they will want to make a purchase.

Contemplate the various methods you are interested in using in your web design efforts. You could for instance write articles for blogs or online magazines, list your business in online directories or share your content on social networks. You will find that there are ultimately quite a few ways in which to drive traffic to your business. You need to get creative.

Psychology research reports involving Online marketing and website design may be worth your time to read. Many psychological factors can determine how people perceive your product, including the color and design of your site. Understanding these suggestions is critical to optimizing your company?s operations.

TIP! Offer people a guarantee when you market your products on the Internet. People will be more likely to buy from you if they feel they are making a no-risk purchase.

A frequently asked questions section on your webpage can help you solve the most common customer problems while promoting your products. Given that you want to sell your products, you should aim to make them the right answers to the questions whenever possible. You can word your questions so that your replies promote your products as solutions.

It is important for Internet promotion purposes that websites are kept somewhat simple, and this is often overlooked by webmasters. Glitzy multimedia tools, such as Microsoft Silverlight and Adobe Flash may lure website owners, and professional web designers frequently offer these tools. Smart owners are aware that not all users are interested in dealing with this kind of technology. A website can be more functional if it doesn?t have fancy bells and whistles.

It is essential when owning a business that you spend your advertising dollars in the right ways. Manage your money and don?t pay too much for advertisements, especially when they won?t necessarily help your business. It is important to make sure you get what you are paying for.

TIP! Have a comment form available to consumers who choose not to purchase. They may offer helpful information you can use to increase sales.

Watch what people say about your sales, promos, and site. This is a very important step toward finding out what works for you. Look out for public opinions about your promotions and events on forums, blogs, etc. Use this advice to show your customers that you listen and incorporate their suggestions.

Provide customers with a time-sensitive incentive to place an order. That could be free shipping for the first hundred people who place an order or free gift wrapping for customers who order before a certain time. An effective sense of urgency should be created by making the offer?s end date clear.

Offer a free service. This can help to reel in your customer so that they establish loyalty with your site. So, if you have something like a financial website, you can give people a free calculator add-on to help them.

TIP! Back up your claims. Lots of people are skeptical of what they read.

Your ordering system must be 100% secure. Open an online account with a service like Paypal to ensure safe transactions. Users should also create password protected accounts before submitting personal information to you via the website.

Publish a glossary on your site to gain credibility. This is not only beneficial to others but to you also. People doing a search for those terms will be more likely to come to your website. You will get more traffic and be considered a reference.

Talk with other businesses and retailers online to create bundle deals of services and products that you could sell for less in volume. You can link together accounts and make your sales go up. For example, online booking agents have reduced prices whenever you book airfare, hotels and car rentals within the same transaction. These are not competitors or rivals, they will work with you.

TIP! Putting free samples and coupons inside the boxes when you ship customers orders that are related to the product is a great idea. Many customers jump at the chance to use a coupon to buy something they needed or wanted anyway.

Internet promotion is a very complex topic, but you will learn more as you develop your own strategies. Even people who have had years of experience with Web marketing will still search for the most up to date information.
